I too find myself wondering where did that whole week go? But I have begun writing in my current notebook whatever and whenever I can. It’s not necessarily the new storyline. But sometimes I am surprised later when I look back at what I wrote. And sometimes it resurfaces later as some vague connection. You got it Donn. Please keep going when you can.
I think those times are common in the writing life. I'm pretty sure we talked about that one study that showed 80% of people think they could write a book, but only 15% start, only 6% get at least half through, only 3% start, and less than 0.6% actually publish. Those figure predate independent publishing, so no doubt the publication percentage is higher now—but I doubt the writing process figures have changed. I suspect the difference between the 15% who start and the 3% who finish lies exactly in the space we're talking about right now. To paraphrase Dory from "Finding Nemo," just keep writing.
