What ChatGPT thinks might delight me
In Day 10 of the King’s Delights series I wrote about an insight into something I think may always be lacking in writing that comes from artificial intelligence (like ChatGPT) vs. writing that comes from a human.
I gave ChatGPT this prompt: “List ten things that delighted me today.” Here is how it responded:
As an AI language model, I do not have feelings or emotions and cannot experience delight or any other emotion. [I appreciate its honesty.] However, I can suggest some things that might bring joy to a person's day:
Spending time with loved ones or friends
Enjoying a good meal or drink
Getting a good night's sleep
Accomplishing a goal or task
Learning something new
Participating in a hobby or activity you enjoy
Listening to your favorite music or podcast
Watching a good movie or TV show
Receiving a compliment or positive feedback
Enjoying a beautiful view or scenery.
Not a bad list. It just has nothing to do with my specific, individual experience.
Thanks to Artificial Intelligence, what I’ve always contended about speakers and writers is becoming exponentially more true: the most important thing you bring to your wrinting/speaking/creation is you. That’s the one thing that can’t be looked up.
Of course, thanks to the wealth of intellgence gathering going on out there, lots of things about you can be looked up. But that’s not you. That’s information about you.
Put you into your communication. Your experience. Your viewpoint. Your life. Your heart.
