A few weeks ago, I shared a working cover for my in-progress book, The Caregiving Writer’s Survival Guide. That title’s still living somewhere in the DNA, but the book is evolving, and so is the design. I’m pleased to share a new look, a new title, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The Creative Caregiver
This modernized design draws from the best elements I’ve seen in recent books that combine vulnerability and practical insight. You’ll notice the shift from the more literal, how-to style to something simpler, warmer, and (I hope) more emotionally resonant. The cream-toned background, symbolic imagery, and bold serif type all aim to reflect the balance between care and creativity that so many of us are trying to hold.
And that’s really what this book is about.
🛠️ Where Things Stand
I’m wrapping up the first draft of the manuscript now. It’s been a long time coming, born in the middle of sleepless nights, medical emergencies, and moments when the dishes in the sink felt louder than the words in my head.
This isn’t a book about being a superhero. It’s a book about how creative people—writers, yes, but also painters, musicians, actors, speakers, sculptors, designers, and dreamers—keep going when life demands everything they've got. It’s about what happens when your time, your energy, and even your identity feel swallowed up by caregiving, and how you still find ways to make something meaningful.
📣 I Want to Hear Your Story
Right now, I’m looking to include short stories, reflections, or snapshots from real-life creative caregivers to appear in the book or in companion posts.
If you’re someone who:
Writes in the cracks between caregiving tasks,
Paints at the kitchen table while monitoring meds,
Composes music in your head during hospital waits,
Gives speeches on Zoom or performs while navigating invisible stress,
Or finds any way to keep your creative self alive…
…I want to hear from you.
You don’t have to be famous. You don’t need a bestseller or gallery show under your belt. If you’ve kept going at all, that’s a story someone needs to hear.

❤️ Thank You
To everyone who’s followed this project, offered encouragement, or simply nodded quietly when I’ve talked about the chaos of caregiving—thank you. This book exists because of those small moments of connection and recognition.
And it’s getting closer every day.
