King's Delights, Day 9
Donn King discovered a book by poet Ross Gay entitled The Book of Delights. It has inspired him to post a daily thought sparked by noticing something (or some things) delightful, thereby fostering joy. May it inspire you to notice also.
The common theme I'm seeing as I look this over today is: conversation and connection. Yes, I'm an introvert, but I'm a social introvert, and I'm realizing more and more how important connection is to me, and maybe why not paying enough attention to that has fed my depression. Good insight!
Note: I've linked to a few sites below, and except for the one linking to my own podcast home I have no connection to any of them—no affiliate links, not that there's anything wrong with that. (If you didn't know, affiliate links cost you nothing. They just pay the linker a little bit, but whatever it is costs the same as it would through any other source.) I only mention that to say that I link to them just because I think they would be useful to somebody—and that includes the link to my podcast.
Great conversation with Samantha Lane
Sam was my guest yesterday morning on The Alignment Show. She is more than just a time management consultant. She recognizes that time is the one asset that cannot be renewed or replaced, and rather than have that make her frantic, she decided to figure out what mattered most to her so she could organize her life around those values. She is dedicated to helping others do so as well. Check out her web site where she gives away a lot of her stuff.
Deep conversation after that with members of The Go-Giver Success Alliance
It was a fascinating conversation all around the practical aspects of confirmation bias, cognitive dissonance, and the concept of "preference falsification." We dug into all kinds of related threads that really made me think and grew my understanding of several things. The kind of thing that usually takes around 20 minutes or so of that meeting wound up going for about 40 minutes with great participation, and it planted many seeds I will nurture and explore more. Fantastic community!
Good lobster macaroni and cheese shared with my wife
We actually picked it up the day before as part of another meal, and it was more food than we could eat then. Even though we split yesterday afternoon, it provided enough for each of us to feel satisfied for supper.
