It's like inventing chocolate and then serving boiled cabbage. Haha. I think you nailed the Ramsay and Rogers parts. I was reading it in their voices. Well done, Donn.
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the thought experiment! I’ll admit, my favorite part of writing it was having Ramsay have to take a breath in the middle of a string of cuss grawlixes (grawlixi?). 😁
Mr. Rogers: "Donn, I truly enjoyed today's newsletter. It made me laugh. I appreciate you starting my day off with a smile. You have a gift. Glad you're sharing it with the world."
Gordon: "This was F$%#(&^%@@@@ HILARIOUS! Thanks for making me spill my coffee, M(*%&^$*)(*)^*$$!
Donn - I really liked this contrast of two imaginary developmental editors take on a books manuscript. Very interesting and very enjoyable read. AND factual points to consider when writing a book. I especially liked keeping some space for curiosity to happen by the reader. And the imaginary Gordan Ramsay review was spot on about having the 'Hook' moved up front - give the reader reason to want to turn the page and read more.
Thaks for writing this Donn. All the very best to you.
Thank you! It was fun listening to these two in my head. I have to confess, it did remind me of Fredrik Backman's comment that being a writer is the best way to get paid for being insane.
I like that comment by Backman and have to remember it (the memory isn't what it once was). Also, I shared a link to your substack article on a couple of the book clubs I belong to. I think those folks will enjoy the read. All the best Donn.
Wow. I needed this today. A developmental evaluation I had on my first novel turned several things around for me. I may need that again. Thanks for the reminder.

Hehe. Gordon is great but he has made profanity an art form.
What Jeff West said!!! Brilliant.
Thank you!
Clever!
Thank you!
I'll reply in the style of your editors...

There should truly be a laugh emoji here. 😂 Thanks for that!
My pleasure. 😊😆😆😆

Thanks! I hope it makes for an enjoyable read!
This brilliant! And hilariously entertaining. And enormously instructive. (Have I used enough adverbs?)
Thank you! I had fun with it. :-) I did notice there was no need to censor Mr. Rogers.

I hope your experience leaned more toward the Rogers end of the scale. :) Sounds like you are in the midst of creating another one! Yay!
